The farm dog fills many shoes. He provides security with his “watch dog” duties. He is a shepherd who helps the farmer round up the herd. He protects and oversees the other critters on the farm like the chickens and barn cats. He catches the mice that hang around the corn crib or granery. He trees unwanted raccoons and helps the farmer ward off pests like foxes, weasels or coyotes. Besides all of these things he is a faithful friend and companion.
